The Rapid Rise Of Political Hopeful Enrique Pena Nieto Is Met With Approval By The Masses

The Partido Revolucionario Institutional (PRI) has picked Enrique Pena Nieto as their candidate to run for president in Mexico's 2012 election. Before he decided to run for president, he was the young governor of the State of Mexico from 2005 to 2011. Enrique has prepared for politics with a law degree and an MBA.

He helped lay the groundwork for his political career when he became a member of the PRI in 1984. He first worked as an instructor in PRI's Electoral Training Center before becoming Coordinator for the party's Parliamentary Group in the LV Legislature. He also held the job as Chairman of the Political Board of the same legislature.

He has worked in several administrative offices in the state government of Mexico from the early 90's until 2002. He wore many hats while he worked in the state government of Mexico: Government Administration Secretary, President of the Directive Council for the Social Security Institute, President of the Internal Council of Health Institute and Vice President of the Government Board for Integral Family Development System He became affiliated with the National Institute of Public Administration and the Administrative Council for Decentralized Public Agencies.

Enrique Pena Nieto has shown his versatility by also working as a political advisor to PRI National. Becoming a presidential candidate has been culmination of all his years working for the state government of Mexico. Subsequently, Pena Nieto made his strategic move towards electoral positions.

In 2004, he played a role in nominating candidates for governor of the state of Mexico. He came out ahead of other candidates such as, Guillermo González Martínez, Gustavo Cárdenas Monroy, Jaime Vázquez Castillo, Eduardo Bernal Martínez, Fernando Alberto García Cuevas, Cuauhtémoc García Ortega, Isidro Pastor Medrano, Enrique Jacob Rocha, Héctor Luna de la Vega and Carlos Hank Rhon. He became a gubernatorial candidate of the PRI in February 2005.

Victory day was July 3, 2005. He was a clear winner with 49 percent of the vote. A crowd of 5,000 people came out to watch his inauguration on September 15, 2005.

The elected governor's political agenda include advocacies on environment, energy reform and sustainable development and the acceleration of educational reform in support of youth empowerment and employment generation. The fact that he was able to accomplish anything within a party filled with conflict, speaks to his political capability. Positive advances with respect to the state's economy, housing and agriculture sectors were achieved during his term.

At the end of his term as governor of the state of Mexico, he announced his bid for nomination as the official Presidential candidate of the PRI party. Oddly, Senator Manlio Fabio Beltrones, his only opponent decided not to run. Beltrone quits Nieto fits.

Although there has been a lot of talk of illegitimacy, Pena Nieto is considered to be the next president of Mexico. Since the announcement of his candidacy, he has been leading mock presidential polls against contenders Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador of the leftist PRD party and Josefina Vazquez Mota of the ruling party PAN. The official election for Mexico's 80 million people will be held on July 1 of this year.

The PRI hope for a sweeping victory because of the popularity of their candidate. The claim is that Enrique Pena Nieto will not govern his country like a dictator. Pena Nieto looks forward to a Mexico free from marauding and fleeing citizens.
